What will be the value of the luncheon vouchers (starting from January 2025)?

For employees in service on 31/12/2024, the value of the luncheon vouchers is determined based on your seniority at Actoplus.

Here is an overview:

  • 11 years of seniority or more: luncheon voucher of €7
  • 9 or 10 years of seniority: luncheon voucher of €6
  • 2 to 8 years of seniority: luncheon voucher of €5
  • 0 to 1 years of seniority: luncheon voucher of €4

Will my purchasing power change in 2025?

Yes, your purchasing power will change in 2025 due to several factors:

1. Automatic indexation: Belgium still uses the unique system of automatic wage indexation. As a result, wages increase in line with inflation. This is expected to result in an increase of 2 to 3% from March/April 2025.

2. Transition to luncheon vouchers: The transition from the meal allowance to the new legal system of meal vouchers may cause fluctuations in this specific part of the remuneration package. Most employees will receive slightly less than before with the meal allowance.

3. Sectoral wage increase: The Flemish government has announced an increase of €1 gross per hour for the sector. Part of this will go to employees, but it is not yet clear how exactly this will be distributed. We are waiting for the outcome of the negotiations between employers and unions.

In short, after these changes, your purchasing power is expected to increase in 2025.

Will everyone receive luncheon vouchers?

Yes, from now on everyone will receive luncheon vouchers based on hours performed.

This also applies to employees who did not receive a meal allowance in the previous system.

In the previous system, you received a meal allowance starting from 4 working hours per day. The new system with luncheon vouchers applies to everyone. The number of luncheon vouchers will be calculated by dividing the total number of hours worked  by 7.6 (= 1 working day).

The new system is therefore much more balanced and fairer for everyone.

When will I receive my (first) luncheon vouchers?

The new system will apply to performances from January 2025.

This means that you will receive luncheon vouchers for the first time from the beginning of February 2025.

These luncheon vouchers will be loaded monthly onto a personal card, which you will all receive at the beginning of February 2025.

How will I receive my luncheon vouchers?

Actoplus is partnering with a luncheon voucher supplier. Every month, the amount is deposited on a personal payment card, comparable to another payment card.

The value of the meal vouchers is determined based on your hours worked and seniority.

This card is in your name and will be delivered personally to each employee.

You can use the luncheon vouchers for payments in supermarkets and other participating stores.

I heard that there is an employee contribution for luncheon vouchers. How does that work exactly?

Yes, that’s right. Legally, there is a fixed employee contribution of at least €1.09 per luncheon voucher. This amount is automatically settled via your salary package, so you do not have to pay this contribution separately.

The rest of the amount is paid in full by your employer.

You will see the employee contribution clearly stated on your payslip, so that everything is transparent. Ultimately, you will receive the meal vouchers on your card, ready for use in supermarkets, restaurants and other affiliated stores.

Is this transition a cost-cutting measure?

Yes, the transition to meal vouchers is a limited cost-cutting measure.

As you certainly know, our entire sector is under pressure and Actoplus must also address this situation. The amount of the luncheon vouchers will therefore be slightly lower than the meal allowance.

However, the cost of a luncheon voucher is higher than that of the meal allowance for Actoplus. However, the luncheon voucher has the least impact on everyone, both in the short and long term. In short, it is a (small) saving on the total wage cost.

How is the introduction of luncheon vouchers regulated?

Actoplus is introducing luncheon vouchers in accordance with social regulations. This luncheon voucher system is the standard in our sector and must comply with legal requirements that apply to all companies. A collective labour agreement (CAO) is required for this, for which the agreement of at least one trade union is required. Although there is no formal agreement yet, we have been negotiating with the employee representatives and trade unions since November 2024.

To ensure that there is no interruption in receiving the benefits to which you are entitled, the luncheon vouchers will already be introduced. This means that you will receive luncheon vouchers for performances from January 2025. At the beginning of February 2025, these luncheon vouchers will be loaded onto your personal card for the first time. Everyone will receive this card at the beginning of February 2025.

Once the CAO has been officially signed, the luncheon voucher scheme will continue. From January 2025, Actoplus will therefore ensure that everyone receives their luncheon vouchers in time, so that there is no interruption in the benefits to which you are entitled.
